Something magical happens in Palisade during the fall. Drinking crisp, fresh-tasting wine while you gaze over a vineyard displaying a rainbow of colors is nothing short of breathtaking. We’d tell you to trust us, but honestly, we’d much rather you experience the magic for yourself.

Because that’s what Palisade in the fall is, an experience. One that is full of moments, both small and big, that create the perfect autumn getaway.

We’re highlighting some of our favorite ways to embrace the cooler air and cozy feelings in Palisade this fall.

Celebrate the Artistry of Winemaking

Colorado Mountain Winefest is celebrating 35 years of community, craft, and Colorado’s unique wine culture. Join the celebration on September 19, 2026, for an elevated food and wine experience that focuses on quality, connection, and recognizing the wine makers that make Colorado’s wine so special.

A Cornucopia of Fresh Flavors

Fall in Palisade features a harvest of multiple flavors. From our vineyards picking and processing grapes, to apples and pears that guests at U-Pick orchards can pluck straight from the trees. Don’t forget to stop by Main Street and our local restaurants for menus that feature local produce. Additionally, the Palisade Farmer’s Market runs through October 4 every Sunday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., meaning there’s still time to pick up local goods from vendors.

Find Cool Breezes While You Take in Autumn Colors

Fall transforms Palisade into fields of changing colors with peak leaf-peeping from mid-September to mid-October. Looking to extend the sights and adventure? Make Palisade your basecamp and visit Powderhorn Mountain Resorts for Color Weekend on the third weekend of September (September 26-27). The event features scenic chair lifts, live music, and more!

Stroll, Bike, and Get Outdoors

Take the opportunity to enjoy some of your favorite outdoor activities in cooler temperatures. Whether you’re checking out new sculptures in our downtown, taking a bike tour to visit our local wineries, or making Palisade your basecamp for big game and waterfowl hunting on Colorado’s Western Slope. There are plenty of reasons to get outdoors and find your next fall adventure.

We can’t help but fall in love with Palisade more and more every autumn. Come see why and plan your trip today!
